Daikin Applied Europe has acquired the UK-based company Brooktherm Refrigeration in order to boost its service and maintenance capabilities in the country.
Brooktherm will continue to operate under its existing name, while becoming part of the Daikin Group. The acquisition will form part of efforts by Daikin to meet demand for services that can refrigeration, process cooling and other commercial functions.

Since being founded in 2000, Brooktherm has built a reputation for its expertise in industrial refrigeration and various HVAC services. It is based largely in the Northwest of the UK. A statement on the acquisition said the move was intended to give Daikin a stronger capability to offer turnkey services based around the design and maintenance of systems.
Daikin Applied said it would be able to develop a wider range of specialisms in cooling through the purchase. This would also allow it to prepare for changing demand in the market for products designed specifically for alternative refrigerants classed as natural products.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Brooktherm Refrigeration`s existing directors, Jamie and Daniel Keating, will remain involved in managing the company with the aim to further build the group`s existing customer base.

Jamie Keating said the move would ensure Brooktherm Refrigeration could continue to expand its operations, while benefitting from combining with a large multinational cooling specialist.
He said: [The acquisition by Daikin Applied is an important step for Brooktherm Refrigeration and will provide the investment needed for significant expansion and growth across the UK."
Claudio Capozio, chief executive of Daikin Applied Europe, said the acquisition would help expand its technical expertise in supplying and servicing different cooling needs across the UK.
